Global Youth United to Stop Hatefulness

It is sad and disturbing that political violence has become as common as it is, but it is not surprising. Images, slogans, and texts around us are often created to cause fear and distrust. Too many good people default to reflective condemnations or simple avoidance to deal with our differences in values and beliefs... this is where extremists thrive.

Hatefulness is loud these days. Kindness is too quiet.

We must learn that differences do not equal threats. We must remember that respecting the rule of law is the foundation of peace. We must use our votes to voice our position, not accusations. We must do good for others when we detect anything bad. We must learn to stop focusing on what’s wrong with the other side and start focusing on what we love about the person in front of us. Only love and respect will guide us towards a better future.

Let's realize the power we hold in our hands. Let's stop reading when we see messages and posts of fear, retaliation, and distrust, and certainly not repost them. Let's do good, vote, run for office, and volunteer to change the world. Our actions, no matter how small, can make a difference.

The world will change when we change. Join us to stop hatefulness in the next Buddies Without Borders Online Forum on Multiculturalism for the Common Good - a discussion on how multiculturalism can contribute to the Common Good, promoting tolerance and respect for all.
