Local Action in Jordan - Vote for Your Favorite BWB Club

"Almost two-thirds of the world’s population experience severe water scarcity for at least one month each year." (www.unicef.org/wash/water-scarcity) These challenges manifest differently based on local circumstances, such as pollution, drought, flooding, poor management, and more. Therefore, understanding the local context is crucial for organizing efforts to tackle this global challenge. Today, we will spotlight the local action project by the Amman National School BWB Club in Jordan, led by student Rivana Helal and moderated by Ms. Ruba Abu Rshaid, Head of Activities:
"Our Local Action Project focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation by raising awareness about water scarcity in Jordan, one of the most water-scarce countries in the world. Throughout the year, our club worked together to educate students about the importance of conserving water and encourage responsible water-use habits that can make a lasting impact on our community.
One of our proudest accomplishments was organizing interactive presentations and activities for second-grade students, helping them understand Jordan's water challenges through engaging discussions and hands-on learning. We also interviewed Nisreen Nsour, whose expertise provided valuable insight into the causes and effects of water scarcity in Jordan. In addition, we created educational posters and shared awareness content through our club's Instagram page to extend our message beyond the classroom.
Throughout the project, we overcame challenges such as balancing schoolwork, coordinating meetings, and adapting our presentations to suit younger audiences. By dividing responsibilities into writing, design, media, and action teams, maintaining regular communication, and working closely with our Club Moderator, we successfully achieved our goals. This project strengthened our leadership, teamwork, and communication skills while demonstrating that educating others and promoting sustainable habits can inspire meaningful change and help protect Jordan's most valuable natural resource, water."
