Energy (and Teens) Shaping Our World

"In 2026, energy has reemerged as a central force shaping our world." Time Magazine (April 4, 2026). What do our future leaders think about this issue?

To address climate change, avoid vulnerability from global conflicts, and meet the growing energy demands of an AI future, countries around the world are working hard to find better ways to manage their energy resources. France, Norway, and Sweden now have electric highways that automatically charge electric vehicles while driving. China, India and Brazil now lead the world's effort in producing solar energy. The UK requires solar panels in all new homes. Sweden, Japan, and Germany now have trains powered by biofuel , including food and human waste.

Based on the Climate Council's estimate, around 90 countries now generate more than 35% of their power with renewables.  But is it enough to turn the tide of climate change?

From public policies to consumer awareness, from tax incentives to investment projects, from funding innovations to forming international partnerships, our Power for a Better Future Buddies Without Borders Online Forum participants are working hard this week to finalize their analyses and proposals to meet the Global Goals defined by the Paris Agreement. These international teens are representing India, Brazil, Singapore, USA, Australia, China, Nigeria and the UK. Please join us in wishing all the teams good luck!

Meanwhile, the working title for our next forum competition is "Appearance and Accountability." We are inviting students to explore the beauty, fashion, and image industry's influence on all SDGs, including its effects on mental health (online behavior), economic opportunities (influencers, Youtubers and bloggers), and environmental concerns (fast fashion and pollution). Participants will offer recommendations for their international peers as teens navigate their self-image and the future of the world.
