Achieving global objectives requires a shared understanding, which in turn relies on communication in a common language. Regardless of why English is so widely used, it is clear that proficiency in this language is crucial for world peace and international collaboration, irrespective of our native tongues.
While supporting our partner school in Spain, Los Sauces European School, in establishing a high school exchange program in the USA, we also acknowledge that 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of the English Teaching Volunteer Service Program in Taiwan. Throughout the year, BWB Club members can practice English by joining Global Chats, Club Meet-ups, and SDG Interest Groups. Today, we want to highlight the VMGSBL BWB Club in Turkey, particularly its initiatives to help younger students view English as an enjoyable skill to learn.
The BWB Club in Vali Muammer Guler Sosyal Bilimler Lisesi, Türkiye Vali Muammer Guler Sosyal Bilimler Lisesi is led by students Ceylin Gundogdu and Hanzade Su Taştan. English Teacher Mr. Ozkan Akdugan moderates the club.
"We taught primary school students English through music and dance (as well as many fun activities). This way, they will be able to establish quality communication with their international partners in the future and will not avoid international relations and communication... Encouraging children was a valuable work for us. We received feedback from a parent saying, "My child would never have his face painted, I am so happy to see him like this." This encourages parents to support their children by seeing that their children spend quality time with such activities and learn new information."
Stay tuned for our upcoming Spotlight. We look forward to seeing more countries join our global community to collaborate for the common good and support each other, no matter their location on Earth.
