Reflection of a Top Finisher: Elif Duruş

Elif Duruş is not only among the leading Finishers in the Multiculturalism for the Common Good Online Forum, but she also serves as the President of the BWB Club at her school, Vali Muammer Güler Social Sciences High School in Türkiye. This school year, we have been delighted to invest in her future career development by inviting her to lead one of our Internship Teams.

Today, we would like to share her reflections on the Multiculturalism for the Common Good Forum experience:

"This experience gave me a new perspective on life and helped me become a more conscious individual. Of course, I had an idea in mind when I started this forum, but people's writings and the activities we did clarified my worldview much more. Sometimes I realized how much I knew, and sometimes how much I didn't know. Although I'm not an authority figure, I will use what I can to help others and use the understanding I gained from this experience to help people feel better about themselves and understand that we are united.

Under a single title, everyone may express the same idea, yet no one forms a sentence using the exact same words. We came together as young people who are as different as our words, yet united by a common purpose reflected in that shared idea. However, words do not come together easily. When they do, each word must respect the harmony of the sentence it belongs to.

Although words may seem small and insufficient on their own, words create sentences, sentences form paragraphs, paragraphs become articles, and in the end, a unity is formed—just like the one we have built together."

Changing the world for the better takes bold actions as well as kindness and respect. The next opportunity for teens to connect globally and practice these skills is here. Join us! Power for a Better Future. The application deadline is coming up. #internationalstudents, #globaleducation, #sdgs, #multiculturalism, #buddieswithoutborders, #internationalbaccalaureate
