Global warming has contributed to devastating flooding in Southeast Asia recently. In fact, from Jakarta to Louisiana to Venice, the rising water has displaced millions of people worldwide. Scientists have found that carbon pollution produced by human activities is the biggest culprit.
From building homes to building nations, we need energy. However, most current energy sources rely on polluting fuels, which contribute to natural disasters like droughts and floods. The situation is so dire that the UN took the unprecedented step of passing the Paris Agreement, its first-ever binding multilateral resolution aimed at fostering global unity and cooperation to tackle this issue (Paris Agreement - Status of Ratification).
With only five years remaining until the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) deadline, nearly all countries are significantly behind schedule in achieving these objectives. Why is this the case? How can we overcome this challenge and make this ultimate international cooperation project a reality?
The application for the next Buddies Without Borders Online Forum is now open. Teens between 15 - 18 are encouraged to apply and represent their countries. Together, we can create a future that we deserve.
