BWB students are doing their own investment as well. Back in March 2023, we organized a Buddie Without Borders Online Forum on the topic of improving financial access for underserved communities. We partnered with Kiva, and our students identified small business owners who were looking for microloans. As of today, BWB students have contributed $80.00 USD to three groups of business owners, and the repayment is now on its way to empower another business owner to change their lives.

The first loan was made to a female farmer in rural Mali: Néné is married and the mother of four children, and she is using the loan to improve her farm's yield. (Click here to see Néné's story on Kiva.)

The second loan was made to Nolber, an organic coffee planter in the Amazon. He is using the funds for fertilizer and creating a sustainable agriculture for the local economy. (Click here to see Nolber's story on Kiva.)

The third loan was made to a refugee mother with six children in the West Nile region of Uganda. Beatrice is a farmer, and she hopes to rebuild her life by buying dry food to resell for school fees. (Click here to see Beatrice's story on Kiva.)

Throughout the year, many BWB Clubs create campus-based fundraisers that are full of fun and friends, conducting games that also help bring awareness of SDGs. We are grateful to be a part of KIVA. Please stay tuned for the next Top Five BWB Club spotlight coming up in a few days. For more information on how you can be part of our global community, contact us.
