Tourism is one of the world’s largest industries, but it often comes with a high environmental and social cost. Overcrowded destinations, waste generation, and resource depletion threaten the very places travelers want to enjoy. Finding ways to balance tourism growth with environmental care is urgent.
“Travel & Tourism is expected to support 376 million jobs worldwide in 2026, representing one in nine jobs globally.”
(Economic Impact Research, the World Travel & Tourism Council, May 14, 2026)
“Global tourism accounts for roughly 8% to 9% of all global greenhouse gas emissions.”
(Nature Communications, December 10, 2024)
This Fall, students aged 15-18 from across the globe are invited to collaborate with their international peers to brainstorm solutions for shared economic and sustainability challenges through the lens of tourism. (Click here for the detailed dates and how it works).
Make international friends, brainstorm solutions to problems that impact all of us, and earn the opportunity to launch your own BWB Club in school. You even earn seats on our BWB LI Internship Teams in the following school year. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until all seats are full. The application is now open: https://forms.gle/8JNexPKYu87HTy4o8
